So, today I had to work an 8 hour day. I know, terrible. I have a lot of things to get done, yet I am dreading them so much! I have to finish up my internship, which is going to be done in a few weeks. I have to finish helping my dad fix up my grandpa's house, who knows how long that will take. Those are the only 2 things in the way of me having all the time I need!
Today, though, I feel like I did a good job at fulfilling Randall's love language: acts of service. He had a long day of working in the sun, probably around 12 hours trimming trees and hauling logs, so I wanted to make sure I had things ready for him when he got home. I know this probably sounds very anti-feminist, but he does the same for me....when he remembers. =) I made him orange-pineapple juice and had it chilled, and also cooked flounder and veggies for dinner. I really think this helped make him happy when he got home.
Today I also mapped out my financial plan for the summer. Goal: To get out of debt! Hopefully by the end of the summer, the only debt I will have will be student loans and my car!
Anywho, gotta go take care of business at my internship. That much closer to my freedom!

Every journey begins with one small step.
So, I've decided that blogging isn't as lame as it used to be on Myspace. I'd like to document my personal growth this summer! Honestly, many times, I feel like I'm still 18. I feel like there has been a little bit of growth, but nothing too spectacular to speak of. Sometimes I feel like I've stood still while everyone has grown up. I don't want to be static; this is equal, in my opinion, to death. I want to change and live and thrive and grow. I feel like I'm just beginning.
I've begun a new chapter in my life in so many ways, and many of them without even knowing it. I want to be a better person. I want to be a better me, knowing how I work. Right now I feel like a complete mess, a blob of self misunderstanding and nothingness. I feel like I don't even know what I like or how I feel most of the time. It's pretty scary. I'm afraid of being like this forever. And while I've gone on many personal wellness tangents before, this one has to be the one that works and sticks. I can't go on like that any more.
I have a few goals I'd like to accomplish this summer, for myself and for my future. I feel like getting them out there is definitely the first step.
1. I want to learn more about myself and why I act the way I do. I really want to understand my actions deep down. I have begun to notice that there are a lot of things I do exactly like my mom. This happens to everyone. But although I love my mom and dad to death, I want things that they don't have. I want a better life. I want not necessarily MORE than what they have, I just want different things. So I MUST break myself of the cycle of acting like them.
I have yet to decide how I am going to do this since I am not a therapist. =)
2. I would like to be a better girlfriend/future wife? (Since I think he's going to propose soon). This goal builds upon the first goal because in order for me to understand myself as a girlfriend/wife, I have to understand myself as a single being. We have been working on this a lot lately, but I want to become excellent at it. I want a plan of love. We have been together 2 years, which means the obsessive love is wearing off. Not we gotta get down to the real stuff. I don't want the real stuff to dampen our love, so we have to be aware of what's going on.
In order to do this, I would like to a) become a better person myself, b) read a few books, ie, Men are from Mars (again), 5 Love Languages (reading now), and the Conscious Heart, and c) practice and perfect!
3. I would like to become a backyard gardener! I believe that localization is the key to fixing our economy. I enjoy Juliet Schor's Plenitude model a great deal and would like to begin implementing it into my own life. I also want to buy the economics of happiness or just watch it, I guess. I want to make ecological living a bigger part of my life, and I think growing my own veggies and someday fruits and having chickens will help with this.
4. I want to meditate more often to balance myself before and after a crazy day.
5. I want to be the best nanny ever! This summer, I am being an at-home nanny for 4 kids. I want to give them an amazing summer experience. I want us all to learn from each other.
6. I want to work out! Not just to lose weight (maybe 10-20 pounds) but also to just be healthy and more connected to the earth. I guess this goal also includes eating healthier.
So, those are a few goals I have for myself this summer. I would really like to accomplish them all!
Cheers to a new beginning. I just planted my seedlings. =)
